  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 jar of Pasta Jay's Classic Marinara Sauce
  • 2 cups grated mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese

How to Make

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 F then begin preparing your pasta. Cook your ziti noodles al dente according to package directions. Drain the noodles and set aside.

Step 2: In a large Dutch oven or saucepan heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it into smaller pieces, until the meat is browned.

Step 3: Push the meat to the sides of your pan, creating a well, and add the chopped onion. Sauté until onion is translucent, about 4 minutes.

Step 4: Add the garlic, basil, Italian seasoning and red pepper, and stir to combine. Add Pasta Jay's Classic Marinara Sauce, and bring to a simmer. Remove from heat. Add the cooked ziti to sauce, and stir to combine.

Step 5: Grease the bottom and sides of a 9-inch-by-13-inch baking dish. Pour half of pasta-sauce mixture into prepared dish, and cover with half the mozzarella; repeat layers. Top with Parmesan cheese and bake in the oven until cheese is melted and edges are bubbly, about 25 minutes.

Step 6: Let rest 15 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
