1908 Brands announced today that it has sold CompoKeeper to Rev-A-Shelf, LLC, the leading innovator of quality, functional residential cabinet storage and organizational products. The transaction closed on May 1, 2018.
1908 Brands, a parent company, has acquired and sold a number of brands in an effort to develop a balanced portfolio of natural food and natural product companies. The sale of CompoKeeper is part of periodic assessment of the portfolio. CompoKeeper is mostly sold into hardware stores, and 1908 Brands has decided to focus on food and grocery store brands, the sale allows for a strategic focus on the grocery industry.
CompoKeeper is the second of seven brands that 1908 Brands has either acquired or developed. The company acquired CompoKeeper in 2013 after the brand won the Naturally Boulder Pitch Slam, where entrepreneurs from emerging companies pitch their business start-up ideas to a panel of judges comprised of natural product industry veterans.
“I’m excited that CompoKeeper has found an excellent partner in Rev-a-Shelf. Rev-a-shelf owns the sliding drawer cabinet in the kitchen and is the perfect team to add composting bins to the trash and recycling container system. The sale of CompoKeeper to Rev-A-Shelf ensures that in the years to come, the compost bin will be added as a staple in kitchens which is a huge benefit for homeowners and the planet,” says Steve Savage, CEO of 1908 Brands.
The average U.S household generates 650 pounds of compostable materials each year, with more than sixty percent derived from kitchen scraps. The acquisition of CompoKeeper by Rev-A-Shelf will aim to bring the convenience and ease of composting to the public to help maintain compostable waste with innovative odor-free technology.
“Rev-A-Shelf feels the addition of the CompoKeeper will fit perfectly into its extensive customer base in the Kitchen & Bath Industry, e-commerce & Retail Home Centers. Utilizing this product as a free standing unit or a pull out cabinet component will allow our customers to participate in the growing composting movement nationally.” David Noe, General Manager of Rev-A-Shelf.
CompoKeeper joins the Rev-A-Shelf Waste Container product line – which currently includes functional residential cabinet storage and organizational products such as Lazy Susan, Kitchen Drawer Organizers, Base Cabinet and Pantry Pull-Outs, functional Waste Containers, LED lighting systems and Childproof Locking System.
